Teachers are the pulse of a robust education system and programs! While there are several stakeholders as part of the education ecosystem, none are as important as teachers. They are at the helm of all the work that any institute, education-related school or university does.
S-Shakt is our program under which we work towards conduct teacher training and teacher capacity-building workshops for primary and middle school teachers.
S-Shakt is our program under which we work towards conduct teacher training and teacher capacity-building workshops for primary and middle school teachers.
We deeply believe that the curriculum delivered may be strong, but if the teachers delivering it are not empowered, sensitized, and aware enough, the curriculum stands still. Hence we engage several teachers not only through our S-shakt Teacher Trainings, but also via community-visits, events, workshops and programs.
These trainings happen under different heads and in different lights. Sometimes we help teachers become better storytellers, sometimes better problem solvers. We sometimes help teachers incorporate elements of puppetry and art in teaching, while sometimes just help them build their scientific temper.
Some of the themes that we usually cover over 2-3 days are:
- Developing caring classroom communities
- Arranging for learning
- Building on students' thinking
- Worthwhile mathematical and science-related tasks through online tools - Making connections through online and offline modes
- Understanding language through stories and drawing themes out of stories
- Use of Connect, Extend, and Challenge (CEC) Framework
- Creating lesson plans using themes and CEC framework
- Understanding the concepts of Science using models and its application
- Building Mathematical mindset using puzzles and games

We have recently also engaged several teachers via the Government schools (13 schools) we work with in 2 clusters. Beyond that, we also had many of the teachers over at our annual Bulbule Festival - where not only were the teachers with us to support the children, but themselves got to experience workshops and the festival, as a participant.
"Along with my class, I also got to sit and watch the performances at Bulbule Festival. The puppet show was enthralling! The child in me felt exvited :) The workshop on toy-making was amazing too. Even I tried my hands at it, and realised there is so much more to learn, and engage our children with!". Sushma ji, one of the teachers who was at the Bulbule Festival '2025.
