Our story starts when one of our team members saw a sparkle in the eyes of girls in a village in UP. This was no usual sparkle because these girls were living in a place where there was no electricity, their parents had never been to school and they could hardly afford a meal a day. The sparkle was of dreams that they had, the vision, the reasons, the justifications, all were there with them from being a doctor to a teacher to a businesswoman. They wanted to fly and it could be seen in their eyes when they spoke. What they needed was the freedom to be educated and to pursue their dreams.
This was when Swatantra Talim was born. Born to walk with children who don't get the freedom to pursue their dreams and get the ‘talim’ they want.
We at Swatantra Talim believe that children are born curious and we should try to enhance this potential rather than binding them in structures made by us. Let them explore and develop their own structures as it is a proven fact that we always remember what we learn through our own experiences.
Our aim is to co-create spaces - both mental and physical where children can learn through their own experiences and make their own decisions.
